This laboratory exercise is intended to give a quick introduction to some of the basic elements of the Maple V Release 4. Future assignments will introduce more features of Maple.
This laboratory assignment consists of three separate Maple worksheets. You should explore and experiment with all three.
Several required exercises are located at the end of the third worksheet.
For each worksheet, follow these steps.
Find the Maple worksheet you want from the list below. Hold down the Shift key while you click on the file to open a dialogue box.
Save the file you have selected to your own floppy disk or hard drive.
Start the Maple program and open the file you have just saved.
Follow the instructions in the Maple file.
Be sure to save your work frequently!
The three Maple worksheets.
basics1.mws introduces the features of Maple's Toolbar (in text mode).
basics2.mws introduces mathematics with Maple. Topics include executing mathematical input, creating formulas, trigonometry, algebra, and defining functions.
basics3.mws introduces Maple's plotting capabilities. Topics include plots and graphs in Cartesian coordinates, displaying multiple plots in a single plot window, the implicitplot command, and plots for lines, circles, and ellipses. Four required exercises are located at the end of this worksheet.
Be patient. This takes time.
Be careful. This is not necessarily an easy task.
